🚀 Getting Started

After installation, LocalHelper.AI runs quietly in your system tray — ready whenever you are. 

🖱️ Tray Icon & Quick Menu

1. Look for the colorful rainbow-circle icon 🟢 near your clock.

2. Left-click to open the chat window. 

3. Right-click to open the quick-action menu:

1. • 💬 Text chat – Opens the assistant’s chat window.

   • 💡 Suggest idea – Launches https://ideas.localhelper.ai so you can propose or vote on new features.

   • 🐞 Report a bug – Opens the bug-report form.

   • ⚙️ Preferences – Shows settings window

   • ❌ Exit – Closes LocalHelper.ai and frees system memory.

🎙️ Setup Your Microphone

If LocalHelper.AI is not recognizing your voice, please follow these steps to make sure your microphone is configured correctly in Windows:

1. Right-click the 🔊 speaker icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner)

2. Select ⚙️ Sound settings

3. Under the Input section:

• Choose your microphone from the list

• Set Input volume to maximum

• Speak into the microphone and make sure the volume meter moves (indicates your voice is being detected)

4. Under the Output section:

• Make sure the correct playback device is selected (e.g. speakers or headphones)

• Set the volume to a comfortable level

🗣️ Talking to Your Assistant

• Begin every voice or text command with “Computer …”
  Example: “Computer, what’s the date?”

You can set a custom assistant name in Preferences.

To open settings, right-click the rainbow icon in the tray and select Preferences from the menu.

• Launch application that is pinned to the taskbar, Start menu, or located on the desktop.

• Control music – play/pause, previous / next track.

• Set system volume to any level between 0 and 100%.

• Lock the screen or send the PC to sleep or hibernate.

• Close, maximize or minimize application [name]
  Closes the specified application by its name.

• Show desktop
  Minimizes all windows to show the desktop.

• Press key [name]
  Simulates pressing a system key. Supported keys include:
  enter, esc, tab, prtsc, left, right, up, down,  del, backspace, home, end, pageup, pagedown, space.

⚙️ Settings

👤 Assistant – Set the wake-up word, follow-up listening time, how the assistant addresses you, and any extra instructions

🌐 Language – Pick the interface & voice language; restart the app to apply changes

🎙️ Speech to Text – Choose a recognition model (accuracy vs VRAM) and run the microphone setup wizard

🧠 Language Model – Select which local LLM to run (bigger models use more GPU memory)

🗣️ Text to Speech – Pick a voice model/number and adjust speech speed; restart required for new voices

🖥️ System – Toggle auto-start with the OS and the tray welcome pop-up

🎨 Theme – Switch between Light, Dark, or follow the system theme
